Petr Cech finally got his hands on the No.1 shirt, while Hector Bellerin understandably took the No.2 following the departure of Mathieu Debuchy.
But there was one surprise change, with Grant Xhaka switching from the No.29 he has worn for the past two years at Arsenal, to the No.34.
And the Swiss international has now explained the reason why: He said: “The number 34 has a big significant for me. It was my first number as a professional and it’s aways brought me luck. I’ve even got the number tattooed on my back and on my arm.
“My brother (Taulant) wears No.34 too and when I left Basel, he took the shirt straight away, so it’s a pretty important number in our family.”
Arsenal star Granit Xhaka.
The No.34 shirt at Arsenal had been worn by Francis Coquelin, but became vacant after the French midfielder left the Emirates to join Valencia in January.
Meanwhile, Cazorla has issued an emotional goodbye message to Arsenal fans following the confirmation that he was leaving north London after six years.
In a video message posted across the club's channels, the midfielder told supporters:
"Hello to Arsenal fans everywhere. I am very sad to be leaving after so many great times.
"I have loved my time at the club and I will always remember the special moments we had together. The FA Cup win in 2014 is something we will never forget. It was a great moment for me and for the club and I want to say thank you very much.
"You always gave me special support. I am very proud to be part of this club's history and I want to wish you all the best. I will miss you a lot and thank you very much again."
