Barcelona have signed striker Abel Ruiz up to a new deal that contains a 100 million euro release clause.
The 18-year-old arrived from hometown team Valencia in 2012 and has enjoyed much success in the Azulgrana lower categories, winning the UEFA Youth Cup last season while also making his Segunda Division debut for Barcelona B.
This contract runs to June 2021 and Ruiz is now expected to undergo pre-season with Ernesto Valverde’s senior squad ahead of the new campaign.
On the international scene, Ruiz also impressed for Spain’s Under-17 side, netting six times as they reached the 2017 World Cup final and top scoring for his team in the same year’s European Championship triumph.
