The job was left vacant after former coach Hossam El-Badry resigned following a shock 2-0 loss at the hands of Ugandan giants KCCA FC in a CAF Champions League group A match.

The club announced the signing on Tuesday through a statement on their official website and other media channels.

“The football committee announced, after the approval of the board, the signing of Frenchman Patrice Cartier to take over the technical task of the first football team for the next two seasons,” the club announced

“Carteron will arrive on Wednesday to start work and arrange all things for the preparation period with his assistant. He will not be accompanied by any of his assistants and his assistant will be Egyptian.”

Until his appointment, Carteron was the head coach at United Soccer League club, Phoenix Rising where former Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba plies his trade.

He has also coached Egyptian club Wadi Degla.

His main task is to turn the club’s fortunes in the CAF Champions League where they lie fourth in group A behind Esperance, Township Rollers and KCCA.
