Manchester United new signing, Fred will undergo a scan on Friday as Brazil waits on the extent of his ankle injury.

The £52million man - who only completed his move to Old Trafford on Monday - was seen with strapping on his ankle after a heavy tackle by Casemiro at a pre-World Cup training session.
Brazilian team physician Dr Rodrigo Lasmar, second left, says new Manchester United signing Fred will undergo a scan on Friday.

Fred immediately went down in pain after the Real Madrid man mistimed a lunge at Spurs' Enfield training base.

Former Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred, 25, cried out in pain before being worked on by Brazilian medical staff.
Fred was seen grimacing as strapping was applied on the side of the pitch.

And team physician Dr Rodrigo Lasmar said Brazil - and Jose Mourinho - now face a waiting game.

Dr Lasmar said: "Fred has started his recovery work but he still has pain.
"It is too early to do any diagnosis, we have to wait for the first 24 hours."

He added: "He could wake up tomorrow without complaints, but we need to have an exam.

"We have to wait."

Brazil fly out to Vienna for their final warm-up game against Austria on Sunday, a week ahead of their World Cup opener against Switzerland.

Tite's squad, favourites for the tournament, also face Costa Rica (June 22) and Serbia (June 27) in the group stage.
