Raul broke the deadlock in style at the Bernabeu stadium

Raul, who spent 16 years of his career with Los Blancos, opened the scoring after just six minutes.

The 40-year-old proved he hasn't lost his touch with a phenomenal looping header over the hands of David Seamen.

But the Gunners pulled one back after a moment of magic from French legendRobert Pires.

The two-time Premier League winner threaded a ball through to Luis Boa Morte, who carefully planted the strike into the net from a tight angle.

Arsenal's joy was short-lived and the Spanish side regained the lead after Guti scraped the ball into the net from close range.

After the interval, Emmanuel Eboue channelled his inner Diego Maradona with an explosive run from his own half.

The Gunners legend effortlessly weaved through a sea of Madrid shirts, but he was hacked down as he charged into the penalty area.

Regardless of the outcome, the 'You've only come to come see Eboue' chant continued to echo around the Bernabeu Stadium.

Pires came close to finding the equaliser in the dying stages of the game, but his free kick was heroically cleared off the line.

This charity match was played in aid of Real Madrid’s Foundation and the return fixture will be played in aid of The Arsenal Foundation on September 8 at the Emirates.
