Real Madrid have signed 17-year-old forward Rodrygo from Brazilian side Santos in a deal reportedly worth in the region of £40million.

The teenager, whose full name is Rodrygo Silva de Goes, will join up with the Galacticos squad next year after an agreement was struck between the two clubs.

Madrid confirmed their capture of the highly rated starlet on Friday via their official website and social media channels.

The player will remain at his current club until next year in order to satisfy the legal age requirement of playing professionally in the Spanish division.

'Real Madrid C. F. and Santos Futebol Clube have agreed that Rodrygo Goes will play his football at Real Madrid when he reaches the legal age requirement,' the Champions League holders announced.

'Although the player would be able to play for our club as of January 2019, the agreement in place sets out that he will join the squad in July of that year,' Madrid added.

Rodrygo made his debut for Santos last November, at the age of 16, and has scored five goals in nine league appearances for the club in the Brazilian top-flight.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed but reports suggest Madrid have paid in the region of £40m (€45m) to get their man.
