Usian Bolt debuts football career for Norwegian side, Stormsgodset, wears no 9. 58

Jamaican sprint king will appear at the annual charity fundraiser at Old Trafford on Sunday.

JAMAICAN sprint king Usain Bolt made his footballing debut for Norwegian team Stromsgodset as he prepares to appear in Sunday’s Soccer Aid at Old Trafford.

Bolt, the fastest man ever, had a 20-minute cameo on Tuesday and wearing the No 9.58 – a reference to his 100metre world record set in 2009.

But it wasn’t the best start to Bolt’s footballing career.

He came off the substitutes’ bench with 20 minutes to go, his team 1-0 down, and he was given the best chance of the game to equalise.

But Bolt failed to connect with a cross into the area and spurned Stromsgodset’s best opportunity to get a draw.

The game was played in front of a few hundred spectators, yet Bolt will be more used to performing in front of the 80,000 expected to travel to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 31-year-old will be one of the main draws to Manchester United’s stadium for Unicef’s fundraiser.
He is captain of the World XI team, joined by former Premier League greats Robert Pires, Edwin van der Sar, Eric Cantona and Jaap Stam.

Yaya Toure, who has left Manchester City this summer, is in the squad as well as Dutch masters Patrick Kluivert and Clarence Seeforf.
Other stars of the sports world include former England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen and All Blacks legend Dan Carter.
