Leroy Sane will not be representing world champions Germany
Germany boss Joachim Low has revealed the reasons behind his decision to drop Leroy Sane from his World Cup squad.

GERMANY have shocked the world by leaving Manchester City's in-form star Leroy Sane out of their squad for the World Cup.

And boss Joachim Low has now revealed the reasons why the winger will not be going to Russia.

Why hasn't Joachim Low picked Leroy Sane for the Germany World Cup squad?

Joachim Low says he opted for Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt over Sane, with Thomas Muller, Marco Reus and Julian Draxler the other players in the Man City star's position.

The Germany boss commented: "That was a very close decision between him and Julian Brandt, which was made in favor of Brandt. Draxler, Reus and Müller are set. Leroy has a huge talent.

"He will be back again from September. He had not arrived in international matches yet.

"It was a very close decision. If it was a 100 metre race, it would have been a photo finish."

Who is Julian Brandt?
Julian Brandt is an up and coming winger at Bayer Leverkusen, making his debut for the club in 2014.

He has played 15 times for Germany, scoring one goal.

And Brandt also featured alongside Sane in the Germany Olympic team which picked up a silver medal after taking a full strength, Neymar-led Brazil all the way to penalties in Rio.
