Midfielder Keisuke Honda has announced his retirement from international football after Japan crashed out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Japan sadly lost 3-2 to Belgium who will now face Brazil in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
The 32-year-old came off the bench late in the last-16 clash with Roberto Martinez's side,but was unable to prevent his side from slipping to an agonising 3-2 loss.
Now, Honda has announced his exit from the international stage of football.
"Today we showed how we can proceed as Japanese football.
“I am concluding my career in the national team. I am happy, because we have a lot of good young players, and now it is their turn to write the history of Japanese football,” Honda, told journalists.
The 32-year-old made his International football debut for the national team in 2008.
The Former CSKA player scored 37 goals in 98 appearances for his country.
