Mourinho arrives Manchester United training ground, see pictures

While all eyes are focused on the World Cup in Russia, Jose Mourinho has bigger fish to fry back in Manchester.
Last season bucked a trend in the Portuguese's managerial career. He had developed a knack of winning the league title during his second season at his previous clubs – but Pep Guardiola's Manchester City ensured that wasn't the case last term.
And now, steely-eyed and determined, Mourinho has begun his bid to take the silverware back from their city counterparts by starting pre-season at Carrington.

The manager arrived at United's training headquarters on Tuesday morning, along with his coaching staff which now includes Michael Carrick.
Carrick announced last season he would retire from football and take a position in the club's backroom staff.
The former United midfielder will hope to fill some of the void left by the departure of Mourinho's right-hand man Rui Faria last term.
And to fill Carrick's rather sizeable boots which have vacated the middle of the park, United have acted quickly in the transfer market to recruit Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52million.

There will be no time for Carrick to ease his way in, however. With Mourinho hellbent on winning the trophy this season, he will need his side to hit the ground running – starting with a full pre-season.
