The prospects for a greater IMO state may be sailing through a fruitful navigation as Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the chief of staff to IMO state government gets international recognition on leadership at the African Achievers Award in the UK.




Chief Ugwumba was received as a special guest at the event and was presented with a distinguishshed African award at the UK House Parliament in London for his creative style of leadership, as it accommodates and mentors youth inclusiveness in governance.

The 8th edition of the African Achievers Awards was themed, Girl Child Right to Education - A case Study for Africa. The event focused on some challenging conditions that has shortchanged the ability of girl children to sufficiently weld the weapon of education.





The ceremony which was chaired by Susan Fajana Thomas -former Mayor of the London Borough of Hackney & Chairperson of the African Achievers Awards Board and hosted by Rt. Hon. Diane Abbott (Current Shadow Home Secretary, United Kingdom).

The prominent personalities who delivered keynote and goodwill address was Her Excellency, Jewel Cianeh Howard Taylor, vice president of Liberia, who delivered the Keynote Address, Dr Josephine Ojiambo, Immediate past Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth as special Guest Speaker, Justina Mutale, founder of the Justina Mutale Foundation and Author, Novelist and Poet, Titi Horsfall Lindsey Oliver, Founding Director of Aljezeera & Mo Abudu, Founder of Ebony Life TV also delivered goodwill messages at the ceremony.

Ugwumba was honoured in the Youth Empowerment Award category, alongside reputable leaders in Africa and Nigeria for his commitments to increase the productive capacity of youths in IMO state. The Chief of Staff has done outstandingly well in creating jobs and opportunities for youths.

The IMO state gubernatorial aspirant has been applauded for his innovative strategies in the practice of true democracy and impactful leadership.





Some of the reputable beneficiaries of Africa Achievers Awards in the past are His Excellency, Jakaya Kikwete, former President Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Margaret Blick Kigozi, a University Chancellor and sports woman who works as a consultant at United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO), Bishop Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandela Foundation and Dr Paul Enenche.
