Who Tekno's Pana Beat Was Originally Meant For - Krizbeatz

Nigerian top producer Krizbeatz has revealed that the beat for Tekno’s popular song “Pana” was not originally his.

The producer who has worked for international artiste Drake, Omarion, TY Dollar sign, Diamond Platnumz and Vanessa Mdee, produced Tekno’s hit ‘Pana’.

In a chat with Punch’s Saturday Beats, the singer said the person he originally produced the song for rejected it, but Tekno embraced it and ‘Pana’ emerged one of the biggest songs in 2016.

He said, “I met Tekno online and he told me he wanted us to work together because I usually shared beats with him online.

“I went to his house, played him some beats and he liked them. But there was a particular day he visited my studio while I was producing for another musician. Apparently, the artiste didn’t like the beat but Tekno fell in love with it.

“We later had an agreement that I should make another beat for the artiste while Tekno took the first one.”

Krizbeat further explained that when the original owner of the beat heard “Pana” he called him to congratulate him.

He said, “Even when I told him it was the beat he rejected, he argued that it was better than what he heard. I guess since Tekno is a very good producer as well, he knows what good beats sound like. But I didn’t know he was a producer until I visited his house.

“I laugh when people say Tekno is arrogant because he is one of the most humble people I have met. In life, if you are known for always speaking your mind, people perceive it as arrogance.”

Although, “Pana” was huge, Krizbeatz said not being a top producer at that time, affected his growth in the industry.

He said, “It was really a challenge to get people to hear what I had to offer at a time. There is the belief that once a song is not produced by a known producer, it is not good enough. I went to some artistes and tried to convince them to listen to my production, but they never did.

“I can never forget how I was treated and felt when I went to a very popular artiste’s house. I took a yellow taxi cab and I ended up spending N50, 000 in a day without achieving anything. He said we should reschedule the meeting and he didn’t call me back until I became who I am today. But I didn’t behave as if we had met before when he reached out to me.”
