Asaba 2018: Meet Tobi Amusan, the lady who won first gold for Nigeria

Oluwatobiloba Amusan has won Team Nigeria’s first medal of Asaba 2018 in the women’s 100m Hurdles with a time of 12.86s to win the Gold Medal.


African Athletics championships started in Asaba, Delta State yesterday.


Tobi Amusan won the Gold medal at the 100 meters hurdles event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

She was also a runner-up at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 100 m hurdles running a windy 12.79s.




Amusan also participated at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz. Despite running her second fastest time ever, she finished fifth in the final.

She broke Kim Turner’s 100mH UTEP record in 2016, with 2016 best of 12.83 s.

The Ogun State born Sprinter gave scores of Nigerian supporters something to cheer when she finished the race by striking gold.
