Marcus Rashford revealed as new Manchester United no. 10

Marcus Rashford has been named Manchester United’s no. 10 for the 2018-19 season as he looks set to once again play a part in Jose Mourinho’s plans.

The 20-year-old has been the most used player since Mourinho was appointed manager back in 2016 and is considered to be one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

He burst onto the first team scene in the 2015-16 season under Louis van Gaal and has gone from strength to strength since then, scoring eight goals in his debut campaign, 11 in his second, and 13 last term.

Rashford returned to Man United from his holidays earlier this week following the World Cup in Russia and travelled with the squad for the final pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.

Supporters were excited to see that not only was he starting at the Allianz Arena, but he would be repping the vacant no. 10 shirt, rather than his no. 19 shirt.

The number change would be Rashford’s second in two summers. He wore the no. 39 shirt in his breakthrough year before switching to no. 19 in the summer of 2016.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was given the no. 10 shirt for the 2017-18 campaign but barely featured for United before moving to LA Galaxy midway through the season.

Wayne Rooney was the owner of the shirt before Ibrahimovic and made it and iconic as it is, so Rashford certainly has some big boots to fill.
