Raheem Sterling apologises for stealing Gabriel Jesus goal at Wembley

Raheem Sterling has apologized to his teammate in Gabriel Jesus following the Brazilian goal which was awarded to him on Saturday's FA Cup win.

There was a lot of confusion around Wembley which had to do with  the second goal of City's six nil win.

Jesus shot past Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes on 38 minutes before Sterling hammered the ball into the back of the net.

Sterling, who netted twice in the second half of the FA Cup final, was not credited with the goal

Replays were not immediately conclusive as to whether or not the ball had already crossed the goal-line prior to Sterling's intervention.

At full time, BT Sport's Jake Humphrey congratulated Sterling on becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in an FA Cup final since 1953.

Sterling, who scored two indisputable goals late in the second half, replied to Humphrey: 'You're bantering me. That's sh*t from me then… poor from me! I didn't mean to do it. I'm sorry.'

The Football Association later declared that City's second goal belonged to Jesus, not Sterling, so the hat-trick party was cancelled.

But Sterling didn't seem too concerned about his individual goal tally as he outlined his intention to win even more team silverware with City next season.

He added: 'Growing up I was a United fan and watched them dominate for many years. Now we’re doing really well and can hopefully continue to do well.'

City are the first ever club to win the Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup in the same season.
