Ansu Fati called up to replace Barcelona star in Spain squad

Ansu Fati has been called up to Spain's Under-21 side as a replacement for Barcelona teammate Carles Perez.

The 16-year-old, who has only recently officially registered with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), will be hoping to wear the famous red shirt for the first time against Montenegro on Tuesday.

"Carles Perez has left the Under-21 national team camp due to muscular problems, which would have prevented him from being available for the Montenegro vs Spain match in Euro 2021 qualifying," the RFEF said in a statement.

"After talks between the doctors of the RFEF and his club, it was agreed that the player would leave the camp and recover at his club.

"Ansu Fati has been called up to replace the injured Carles Perez and he will join up with the U21s as soon as possible."
