Nani apologize to Ronaldo over his disallowed goal against Spain

Portugal international Nani has apologised to Cristiano Ronaldo after getting his outrageous solo goal against Spain disallowed in a friendly match.

Paulo Bento’s side secured a thumping 4-0 victory against Spain in Lisbon.

with Jorge Carlos Martins, Helder Postiga and Hugo Almeida all netting along with a Sergio Ramos own goal.

At 0-0 in the first half, Ronaldo burst past Gerard Pique and chopped inside to leave the Spanish defender sliding on the deck, then pulled off a cheeky ball roll and scooped the ball up and over Iker Casillas.

Nani was on the goal-line to nudge the already goal-bound shot in and was adjudged to have been in an offside position, prompting a furious strop from Ronaldo.

Asked what happened and whether Ronaldo was angry with him, Nani told the UTD Podcast: ‘No, I think he was angry with the referee!

‘Everyone took it wrong, he was angry with the referee because the ball was already in and they made a bad decision.

‘Imagine if the ball was not in and then I took it before. I was not offside, if you see that video.

‘But obviously I had no intention to take the goal from him. I told him “Sorry” in that moment because it was a beautiful goal.

‘And for me that goal still exists, you just need to cut out the part where I touched the ball!

‘But thank God he doesn’t need that goal to be who he is and he has so many goals to choose and still enjoy his career, and the fans as well.’
