Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu says former attacker, Chinedu Obasi should reveal the evidence if late Stephen Keshi demanded money from him to include him in the squad. 




Former Nigerian star, Obasi broke his silence on the reason he was omitted from the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad. 

Obasi who played for Schalke 04 said that he was left out of the squad because he refused to bribe the manager. 

Since the revelation, fans with many Nigerians have demanded Obasi to mention names involved. 


Apparently, Shorunmu who was part of the technical crew said that the Obasi was dropped because of his injury problems. 





While speaking to Brila FM, Ike Shorunmu said: “Everyone has their own perspectives, a lot of things will happen when you are coaching at the highest level and for sure there was pressure from all angle”.


“However a player was dropped for Obasi in 2010 World Cup, he did not have any problem with that, now that he was dropped in 2014, he started talking.”

“Some players only think for themselves and not for others, in 2014 Obasi was injured and was just coming back from the serious injury. If he has evidence that they demanded money from him, he should come forward and present it.”


Late Stephen Keshi, Daniel Amokachi, and Ike Shorunmu led the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win the African cup of Nations glory in South Africa in 2013.

Keshi also led Nigeria to the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.


“But why can’t he while Keshi is still alive, so they can face each other.” He told www.brila.net.”

Shorunmu was handed his call up into the senior team of Nigeria by coach Clemens Westerhof in 1992.

He played from 1992 and retired in 2002 after the World Cup in Korea and Japan. He recorded 36 appearances for Nigeria.

Also, the 52 years old made some exploits in Europe. He moved abroad in 1995 when he signed for Swiss side FC Basel. He also played for Zürich, BeÅŸiktaÅŸ, Lucerne, and Samsunspor and finally Juventus Zürich.
