Mikel Arteta has been active in the transfer window, although the Gunners haven't been spending on the high side but have made some decent signings to the team.

Gabriel Magalhaes joined from Lille for 22m pounds while Willian completed a three years deal from Chelsea on a free transfer.

It's been gathered that Mikel Arteta is still interested in bringing a defensive midfielder to the club. Atletico Madrid's star, Thomas Partey has been identified as the preferred target for the north London side.

Although, Atletico Madrid are asking for 44m pounds which is the player's release clause.
Arsenal yet to meet to this valuation as they need to either sell one of their star players to raise funds.

There have been reports that Alexander Lacazette has been offered to Atletico as part of the deal.

Apparently, the French star has expressed his confidence in manager Arteta to keep him at the club despite transfer rumours.

"If this is true, no, it does not please me," Lacazette said in an interview with L’Equipe, cited by Metro.

"But what matters is the choice of the coach [Mikel Arteta] and his confidence."

Lacazette scored for Arsenal in their 3-0 win against Fulham in their opening game of the new Premier League season.
He added: "He’s the one who makes the team, not the managers upstairs in the offices, and I know I have his confidence.

"I’m at Arsenal, I signed a five-year contract to progress and win titles. I have two years left. I am determined to stay."
