Following a first half goalless scoreline, things changed for the home team after an hour.
It was Denis Bouanga (St Etienne) who converted the penalty with a right footed shot to the top right corner to give Saint Etienne the lead.
Mahdi Camara (St Etienne) right footed shot from very close range to the high centre of the goal doubled the advantage in the 82nd minutes.
