Tottenham Hotspur seems to have discovered their form in recent week, especially since they thrashed Manchester United just before the international break.

Spurs have also backed it up with some great performances as Harry Kane and Heung Mi Son partnership has resulted in goals and assists in all competitions.

But the run came to an end on Thursday as they handed a shocker. It was a 1-0 loss against Royal Antwerp. The result handed Jose Mourinho his first loss in Europe this season.

Lior Refaelov's first-half strike gave Antwerp the three points in a game that many pundits didn't give them a chance.

Ahead of the game, likes Giovani Lo Celso, Steven Bergwijn, Carlos Vinicius and Dele Alli, made their first start in over a month and looked rusty and weren't able to match up with the pace.

Gareth Bale who joined on loan from Real Madrid lead the attack but he couldn't convert his chances.

Jose Mourinho switched his plan in the second and he brought on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane but Antwerp held on to their lead till the 90 minutes.

After the game, the former Manchester United boss admitted he wanted to change every player on the pitch as they were playing to his instructions.

"I would have liked to make 11," he said of his decision to make a quadruple change at the break. "I didn't make five because I was afraid of a long 45 minutes without any changes to make.

"There's only one person to blame, and it is me. I had chosen the players to start. At half-time I tried to improve the situation. But it was not enough. The dynamic of the first half was there, the mentality was there and it's difficult to change."

He added that his side were unable to score due to pattern of Antwerp. He admitted they say back and defended well.

Jose Mourinho praised the team and insisted he's happy with the result.

He added: "In the first half the game was very easy to play, lots of space. In the second half, we improved but then they played in a completely different way. It was very difficult. In the end, Antwerp got what they deserved and we also got what we deserved.

"It's a fair result. I'm always calm with it. The best team won and the worst team lost."
