Although, it was reported that Gernot Rohr was without some senor players who were missing due to one reason or the other.

Likes of Oghenekaro Etebo who recently joined Galatasaray on season loan from Stoke city is currently injured. Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi was also recuperating from a successful surgery operation.

Paul Onuachu replaced Victor Osimhen in the striking position, as Oshimen who also joined Napoli for a record deal as an African in the transfer was excused.

Meanwhile, the president of Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick has expressed his thoughts on the game.

According to him, the Eagles lost the game due to absence of the players mentioned above.

Sharing the snap of himself with a pose with coach Gernot Rohr, he captioned: "Nigeria Vs Algeria - Not a great game but indeed a great future, truly we missed the super, imposing and majestic presence of ARIBO, ETEBO, OSINMEH ESPECIALLY WINFRED NDIDI. IN GOD WE TRUST."
