Arthur Okonkwo "comical mistake" sees Arsenal suffer first pre-season defeat against Hibernian

Arsenal football club have lost their first pre-season game. The Gunners have started their pre-season tour in Scotland today (July 13th 2021.)

Mikel Arteta side are expected to face Scottish side Hibernian and Rangers later this week.

The Gunners lost 1-0 to Hibernian in Edinburgh on Tuesday July 13th. Mikel Arteta handed youngsters such as defender Clarke and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo their debut in Arsenal's shirt. 

Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo committed an error which led to the opening goal of the game after 20 minutes. The 19-year-old tried to clear back pass from Cedric Soares. But he missed his kick and Martin Boyle tap the ball into an empty to give the home side the lead. 


Arsenal conceded the second goal in the second half after 68 minutes, Mackay doubled the advantage for Hibernian. Meanwhile, the Gunners were given a chance to pull a goal back from the penalty spot. Nicolas Pepe who was fouled in the box missed his spot kick.

But Mikel Arteta made chances which resulted into a consolation goal. Emile Smith-Rowe scored in the 81st minutes. It ended 2-1.
