Wolverhampton goalkeeper Rui Patricio becomes Jose Mourinho first signing for Roma

Jose Mourinho has completed his first summer signing with his new club. The Portuguese manager has signed up Rui Patricio from Wolves.

Patricio, who is a European champion with Portugal in 2016 and a product of Sporting CP's academy, has signed a three-year deal with Roma, who will pay Wolves a transfer fee of 11.5 million euros.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper joined the English club in 2018 in an 18 million euro deal and made 127 appearances for the club.

"AS Roma is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Rui Patricio," read Roma's statement.

"The club confirms that it has acquired on a permanent basis the sporting rights of the player from Wolverhampton Wanderers in exchange for 11.5 million euros."

The Portugal number one goalkeeper has expressed his delight following his arrival at the Stadio Olimpico. According to him, Roma is a great club and he's excited to become first signing of Jose Mourinho. 

"This is a great club and for me it is a new challenge," said Patricio on becoming Mourinho's first signing at the Italian club.

"I'm happy to be able to help the team reach its targets.

"Jose Mourinho is one of the greatest coaches in the world and I'm excited to start working with him."

Patricio will wear the No.1 shirt at Roma.
