The Flying Eagles of Nigeria battled their Malian counterparts in the semifinal of the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday.
The Eagles crashed out after a hard-fought game in Niger Republic, but will take solace in the fact that they secured a spot in the U-20 FIFA World Cup.
After a goalless first half, both teams continued to struggle in search of a goal as Mali succeeded first.
Mali got ahead in the 78th minute through a Mamadou Traore goal, but the jubilation only lasted for a short time as Paschal Durugbor levelled for Nigeria four minutes from time.
Nigeria lost two out their five kicks while the Junior Eagles of Mali lost just once thus winning 4-3.
