Gary Neville believes Liverpool dealt a 'psychological blow' to Manchester City with the manner of their dramatic 3-1 win over Southampton.
The home side took the lead through Shane Long before Naby Keita equalised. And it looked like the Saints might hold on for a point before Mo Salah and then Jordan Henderson ensured Liverpool took three points back to Anfield.
'These are the games that have a big psychological blow and City would have watched this tonight and they would have been switching off their TVs with five minutes to go and that’s never a good feeling,' he said.
'You feel something is happening sometimes. That win at Spurs came from nowhere and they were behind tonight. I did think it was a matter of time before Liverpool went on to win the game.
'There’s not that frantic feel about Liverpool that was there in their last title race. I think they are in a far better position now than they were a few years ago because I felt it was a bit desperate that time.
'Klopp had to go back to go forward today with his substitutions, I always think that’s what Jose Mourinho did at his best. They should absolutely celebrate this tonight but there are five more of these to come, the title race is only just starting.'
