Arsenal yet to complete their first signing of the January window with Flamengo defender Pablo Mari set to snub the deal.

It was reported the defender pictured arriving in London at the weekend for a medical, but negotiations have reportedly since stalled.

The Gunners were closing in on a move for Mari with the player spotted travelling from Rio de Janeiro with Arsenal technical director Edu.

The centre-back even appeared to confirm a move to the Emirates was imminent when he was asked by Goal if he was excited to join Arsenal, to which he replied: “Yeah of course.”

The Daily Mail report the deal could potentially be off with negotiations stalling in the final hour.

Mari has now headed back to Brazil with Arsenal said to be looking at alternative targets with a move for the 26-year-old now looking unlikely.

Arsenal travel to the Vitality Stadium tonight int the fourth round of the FA CUP to face Bournemouth.

The Gunners are expected to be without David Luiz and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang due to suspensions.

While Sokratis is expected to take a late fitness test due to an illness he suffered as he was absent from the draw against Chelsea.

Mustafi seems to be the only fit center back Mikel Arteta has in his Arsenal at the moment.

Callum Chambers, Sead Kolasniac and Kieran Tierney are out due to injuries.
