The Gunners lost despite taking the lead at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday night.
Arsenal took the lead after Reiss Nelson who then found Eddie Nketiah who expertly tucked away into the far corner in the 20 minutes.
But Brighton responded with a penalty from Danny Welbeck. Arsenal's young goalkeeper, Hein tripped the English man in the box which left ref with no choice.
Danny Welbeck slotted the ball pass the goalkeeper in the 27 minutes to make it 1-1.
Then Brighton Hove Albion went ahead with second-half goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Tariq Lamptey.
Kaoru Mitoma put the Seagulls in the lead after 58 minutes of the game.
Tariq Lamptey added the third goal after 71 minutes.
