Under Roberto De Zerbi's leadership, the team has faced difficulties in maintaining a consistent home record, a problem evident in their performance last night.

Auxerre took advantage early, capitalizing on a defensive error by Marseille’s Lilian Brassier. In the 10th minute, Lassine Sinayoko opened the scoring for Auxerre, putting the hosts under pressure.

Marseille’s struggles continued as Auxerre extended their lead with two quick goals before halftime. Gaëtan Perrin found the net in the 43rd minute, followed closely by Hamed Traoré's goal in the 45th minute, bringing the score to 3-0 by halftime.

Marseille managed a response in the 65th minute, with Mason Greenwood converting a penalty to secure a consolation goal, but it was not enough to shift the game’s outcome.

The goal scorers for Auxerre included Lassine Sinayoko in the 10th minute, Gaëtan Perrin in the 43rd minute, and Hamed Traoré in the 45th minute. Marseille’s lone goal came from Mason Greenwood in the 65th minute via a penalty.

In his post-match interview, a visibly frustrated Roberto De Zerbi acknowledged the team’s home challenges and expressed a readiness to take responsibility for their lackluster form.

In a candid statement, De Zerbi said, “I have to take responsibility for this home defeat. We have difficulties at home, that's clear. I don't know if it's a lack of courage or personality. I came here to play at the Vélodrome because I wanted to live the experience. If the problem is me, I'm ready to leave. I'm leaving without the money, I don't care about the rest. I don't want to make excuses and talk nonsense. I'm not going to escape; we have to face reality. That's what I have to do.”

De Zerbi’s comments reveal his frustration with the team’s inability to secure a stable form at home and his willingness to address any concerns over his role.

Under De Zerbi's management, Marseille has experienced a mixed start to the season. They have won only one of their five home games in Ligue 1, while their away form has been more impressive, with five wins out of six matches.

Despite recent setbacks, Marseille remains in second place in the league, six points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. De Zerbi’s candid remarks highlight the challenges he faces in improving Marseille's home performance and securing their standing in the league. The upcoming fixtures will be crucial for the Italian manager and his team’s aspirations this season.
