During the match, Real Madrid’s Arda Güler scored Turkey's second goal and directed a "shushing" gesture toward Szoboszlai, intensifying the on-field rivalry between the two. Their heated exchanges date back to a previous friendly in March 2024, where tensions had already flared.
After the game, Szoboszlai took to Instagram, commenting “1088’” under a post by Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport. The number referenced the total minutes Güler has played for Real Madrid this season, seemingly mocking the Turkish midfielder's limited game time at the Spanish club.
Güler swiftly responded with “This guy is a joke. Isn't six goals enough to shut you up?”, firing back at Szoboszlai's remark.
