Davido Honors Late Mother and Son with Emotional Tribute at Atlanta Concert

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido, born David Adeleke, celebrated his 33rd birthday in Atlanta on November 21, 2025, with a deeply emotional performance that paid tribute to two of the most significant figures he has lost: his mother, Veronica Adeleke, and his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
During the sold-out concert at State Farm Arena, the singer stepped onto the stage wearing a custom black blazer featuring large, striking portraits of both his late mother and son printed on the back. The powerful visual immediately caught the attention of the thousands in attendance and millions watching online.

In a moment that quickly went viral, a giant screen behind Davido displayed a tender photo of young Ifeanyi. Visibly emotional, the artist paused mid-performance, looked upward, and spoke directly to his son: “I love you, son… Tell my mom Daddy is a superstar down here.” The arena erupted in applause and cheers as fans wiped away tears and raised their phone lights in solidarity.

Ifeanyi Adeleke, Davido’s three-year-old son with fiancée Chioma Rowland, tragically passed away in October 2022 in a drowning accident at the family’s Lagos residence. Davido’s mother, Veronica Adeleke—a respected university lecturer and philanthropist—died of cardiac arrest in 2003 when the singer was just 11 years old. Since then, Davido has consistently honored both through his music, public statements, and charitable initiatives.
