Arsenal produced a statement victory today, January 31, 2026, with a commanding 4-0 win over Leeds United in the Premier League at Elland Road. After a period without wins — four games in the league without a victory — the Gunners returned to form in emphatic fashion. This result not only ended their winless run but also reinforced their position at the top of the Premier League table.
In a match that turned out to be one of Arsenal’s most dominant displays of the season, manager Mikel Arteta’s side took firm control early. The first breakthrough came through Martín Zubimendi, who scored with a powerful header in the first half to put Arsenal ahead. This goal was set up by Noni Madueke, who was a last-minute replacement for Bukayo Saka, who withdrew due to injury in the warm-up. Madueke’s introduction proved decisive as his delivery created multiple opportunities for the visitors.

Just before halftime, Arsenal doubled their advantage in unusual fashion: a corner from Madueke caused confusion in the Leeds penalty area, leading to an own goal by goalkeeper Karl Darlow. This effectively put the game beyond doubt at 2-0 as the teams went into the break.

In the second half, Arsenal never looked back. Viktor Gyökeres extended the lead with a well-taken volley in the 60th minute, finishing off a sustained period of pressure from the Gunners. Then, late in the game, Gabriel Jesus added the fourth with a brilliant individual effort, sealing one of Arsenal’s most complete performances of the season.

The result was significant on several fronts. First, it arrested a worrying run of draws and defeats that had seen Arsenal falter slightly after a promising first half of the campaign. By winning 4-0, they restored belief among supporters and regained momentum in the title race.

With this victory, Arsenal moved on to 53 points from 24 games, extending their lead at the summit of the Premier League to seven points over their nearest rivals, Manchester City and Aston Villa, who both have games in hand. This cushion places them in a strong position as the season progresses into its most crucial phase.
