Manchester United staged a dramatic late comeback to secure a 3–2 win over Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday, continuing their impressive resurgence in the Premier League under interim boss Michael Carrick.
The Red Devils looked in control for much of the contest thanks to early and sustained attacking pressure. Their first breakthrough came in the 19th minute when Casemiro rose to head home from a Bruno Fernandes free kick, giving United the lead and sparking celebrations among the Old Trafford faithful.
United carried this momentum into the second half, with Matheus Cunha doubling the advantage in the 56th minute, finishing clinically after good work from Casemiro to make it 2–0 to the hosts. At that point, it seemed Manchester United were cruising toward a comfortable win, building on victories already secured against heavyweights like Manchester City and Arsenal this season.
However, the match dramatically shifted in Fulham’s favour late on. With momentum swinging, Raúl Jiménez pulled one back for the visitors by converting a penalty in the 85th minute, after United’s defence was caught out in a challenge inside the box. Moments later, Fulham’s momentum continued as Kevin struck a superb goal in the 91st minute to level the score at 2–2, creating a tense atmosphere at Old Trafford and setting up a thrilling final few minutes.
The game appeared destined to finish all square, but United had other ideas. In the 94th minute, substitute Benjamin Sesko popped up with a decisive winner, calmly finishing past the Fulham goalkeeper after a well-worked move. The final whistle confirmed a 3–2 victory, sending the home crowd into raptures and maintaining United’s winning run under Carrick.
This dramatic victory was not just about the three points but also what it represented for Manchester United’s season. The win kept United firmly in the Premier League’s top four, with the club now riding a streak of three straight league wins since Carrick took temporary charge. The results have given fans renewed hope of a push for a Champions League spot, a target that seemed distant just weeks ago.
Fulham, meanwhile, showed resilience and attacking threat throughout the match. Despite trailing by two goals, they fought back admirably, pushing United all the way and nearly claiming a valuable point.
