At midday on Thursday, the Spanish national team left their training base with Krasnodar the destination for the World Cup.

That is where the final phase of their preparations for the tournament takes place before they make their bow against Portugal on June 15.

On Thursday morning, the team were visited by King Felipe VI to give them some last minute support before boarding their flight.

"I didn't want to miss this opportunity to see you before you embarked and I wanted to come and give you a hug before Russia," he commented.

"I wanted to greet you and give you encouragement as you are going to have the hearts and hopes of the country on your back."

You could see the joy and anxiety mixed on the faces of the Spanish players after his words as they prepared to depart.

"Everyone is afraid of facing the Spanish national team," Felipe VI concluded.

Spain will face Tunisia in a friendly on Saturday, then they take on Portugal in their opener, Iran on June 20 and conclude against Morocco on June 25.
