United accepted a fixed fee after lowering their initial valuation, with Garnacho pushing for the move and turning down interest from other clubs to join Chelsea. He had been told he could leave at the end of last season and spent pre-season away from Ruben Amorim’s first-team group.
The fee represents one of the largest outgoing sales in United’s history and their biggest for an academy graduate in five years, underlining the scale of the deal for both clubs.
Garnacho is Chelsea’s ninth arrival of the summer, with the club’s outlay approaching £300m amid a broader attacking rebuild. He is expected to be presented to supporters at Stamford Bridge before the derby against Fulham, following plans outlined as the transfer neared completion.
