The 68-year-old decide to step down as Gunners boss at the end of last season and was replaced by former Sevilla and PSG coach Unai Emery, having failed to finish inside the top four for two consecutive seasons as the club’s fans turned against him.

Wenger has seen many faces come and go during his 22 years reign at the club and was known on signing relatively unknown players and turning them into top-class talents during his early years with Arsenal but the Frenchman has picked out four, in particular, that stand out.

Asked by RTL to name his 'proudest signing', Wenger responded: "The ones I'm most proud of are the ones that cost little but turned out to be top class. [Kolo] Toure, [Thierry] Henry, [Sol] Campbell, [Nicolas] Anelka.

"The worst? Oh there's quite a lot! It's a job which is complicated, measuring the worth of someone who joins your club. The key is to not be too stubborn and force the issue; realise
the mistake and move on. Don't be scared to make mistakes."

Wenger was appointed as Arsenal manager in October 1996 and took charge of 828 Premier League games winning three league titles and seven FA Cups.
