President Weah Trains With The National Team Ahead of Chad Clash

Liberia president George Weah trained with the national team squad on Monday ahead of Wednesday 2020 African Championship (CHAN) first leg qualification match against Chad that will be played at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in the capital Monrovia on Wednesday.


The Lone Stars will be looking to secure a ticket to next year’s CHAN when they host Chad. The two teams will face-off in Chad a week later with the aggregate winner qualifying for the showpiece that will be staged in Cameroon in January-February.


Ahead of the match, Liberia players were handed a boost after President Weah actively took part in the Monday session. The former world player of the year was pictured showing his goalkeeping reflexes and having a pep talk with the players.


Regarded as one of Africa’s best players ever, Weah played for Monaco, Paris-Saint Germain, AC Milan, Manchester City, Chelsea among other clubs and is the only African player to have won the Ballon D’or when he was awarded in 1995.


He was elected Liberia President in 2018 when he won the presidential election on his second trial. his passion for the game remains intact and has severally been pictured training with local teams and clubs to keep his fitness levels intact. He recently celebrated his 54th birthday.
