The video which has gone viral has made the young English international released a statement urging others not to follow his lead after learning of the health risks associated with laughing gas.
According to reports from The Sun, the video captured by a friend, and posted to Snapchat a few weeks ago.
Responding to the video, Greenwood said in a statement issued through United: "I have now been made aware of the health risks associated with this practice - and accept that even trying it, as shown in these historical pictures, was poor judgment on my part.
"I strongly urge others not to follow my example.
"As an 18-year-old I am learning all the time. However this week I've also learned that I will be judged to a higher standard because of my career, and I must respect that in future.
"I am determined to repay the faith shown in me by my manager and coaches."
Recall that Mason Greenwood was sent home by England manager Gareth Southgate alongwith Manchester City yihnftser Phil Foden after they brought girls into the hotel during after England's 1-0 win against Iceland two weeks ago.
