"I wanted to return to Arsenal after my first day in training with Man Utd" - Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez came into England from Barcelona in 2014 and took the Premier League by storm.

The Chile international signed for £31.7 million from Barcelona after winning the Champions League with the Catalan side.

Sanchez powered Arsenal to winning the FA Community Shield, as well as the FA Cup two seasons in a row.

The former Udinese star played 122 league appearances for Arsenal and scored 60 goals.

Sanchez refused a contract renewal and was shipped to join Manchester United in 2018 in a move which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the other way in a player swap deal.

Alexis Sanchez has revealed that he wanted to leave Manchester United and return to Arsenal after his very first training session.

Reflecting on his time in Manchester via a video posted on his Instagram, he said:
"After the first training session I realised many things, I came home and asked my family and my manager if I could not break the contract and return to Arsenal, something did not fit me, but I had already signed.

"Months passed and I kept feeling the same. We were not united as a team at that time."

Sanchez could barely find his form at Manchester United where he was made the highest earner in the league with a weekly wages of £300,000 per week.

He scored a goal of 80 goals he struck across 166 games with the Gunners.

He added: "The journalists also spoke without knowing and it hurt. Former players also spoke and had no idea what was happening inside the club. And they hurt me.

"A player also depends on the internal environment, that we need to be a family. We weren't like that, and it was reflected on the field. If someone had to be blamed, they blamed me.

"I do self-criticism and should have played better. But I was always blamed, even if I played for a few minutes."

Sanchez made 45 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring just five times and contributing nine assists before he was sent in loan to Inter Milan in 2019.

He seems to have impressed Antiono Conte as he helped the Serie A side finish two points behind league winners Juventus.

Sanchez eventually accepted a pay cut and joined Inter on a permanent deal.
