Christian Pulisic didn't begin the season with Chelsea due to injury. The United States of America star suffered an harmstring in FA Cup final against Arsenal and was stretched off.

Fitness of the winger has been a concern for Frank Lampard as he looked to be an integral part of Chelsea's new outlook.

Over the weekend, Frank Lampard decided to make a late change after it was reported that Pulisic pulled his harmstring during warm and he was replaced by Timo Werner.

Chelsea went ahead to thrash Burnley as Edouard Mendy kept another clean sheet.

Meanwhile, Lampard have revealed that the former Borussia Dortmund star will not be out for a long time.

Although, he is expected to miss Chelsea Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Rennes.

But Frank Lampard remains optimistic that he has a chance of being available for Saturday’s visit of Sheffield United.

Lampard stated that the forward has returned to training as it was a minor injury.

‘Christian had a scan yesterday which showed a very minor injury to his hamstring so he is already back (training) outside,’ said Lampard.

‘He won’t be fit for Rennes but we will see after that. It's obviously a relief for the injury to be on a small side.

'He made the right decision to not play [at Burnley] - he's an important player for us."

Frank Lampard has confirmed Christian Pulisic has suffered a hamstring strain. He scored four Premier League goals during Project Restart and recorded four assists for the Blues.

Lampard admitted that players likes Pulisic who have speed in their game tend to suffer from injuries as they are usually brought down by defenders. But he admits they must find a balance for Pulisic in the team in order to keep him fit.

He said: 'It's a hard thing to call [are certain players more susceptible to injuries], it's forever a challenge, some players who have speed in their game, they can be more susceptible - it's different for everyone.

'We were looking at ways to manage Christian last season and be proactive with him.

'He had experience of [injuries] at Dortmund. We're working in the same direction to keep him as fit as possible because we know the talent he has.'
