Football fans were glued to their screens on Saturday evening as two of the greatest managers went head to head at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

It was Manchester City who made the trip to the north London side to face Jose Mourinho resilient Tottenham. The north London side have only recorded on loss so far in the campaign and Jose Mourinho was despite to prove a point that he's side are title contenders. 

Well, it was Tottenham that went ahead following a swift counter attack, which saw Ndombele floated pass after Manchester City defenders were keeping the high line, Heung Mi Son connected well and slotted the ball under the legs of on rushing Ederson early in the game. 

Pep Guardiola side kept possession of the ball and looked sharp with their passes but Tottenham held their back line and looked for counter attack opportunities. 

Finally, the opportunity came in th second half, when Lo Celso who came on 124 seconds and he converted the second goal from another counter attack from Spurs. 

The defeat was Manchester City second of the season, following their 5-2 loss to Leicester City at home earlier in the season. 

Meanwhile, Tottenham moved top of the Premier League with 20 points, at least until Leicester City face Liverpool later tonight. 

After the disappointing game last night, Manchester City defender, Laporte went on social media to apologise to City fans. 

The French defender urged his team mates to do better in their next game. 

He captioned: "A disappointing game & result today... Feeling sorry for what we've showed so far we must definitely step up & do better. Starting with the next one"
