Manchester United have been enjoying some good run of games so far which has seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer men climb up to second in the league.

Manchester United had to dig deep against Wolverhampton on Wednesday night at Old Trafford Trafford, United needed a 90th minutes strike from Marcus Rashford to clinch the 1-0 result.

Manchester United will host Aston Villa in another home game on Friday, 1st of January 2021. It's the first game and at home for Red Devils.

It's been gathered that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might have to rotate his squad again given the hectic festive fixtures.

Although, the game against Dean Smith side might be another tough test, as Aston Villa are currently in 5th position in the league.

Recall that Villa held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Ahead of Manchester United game against Villa, it's been gathered that Edinson Cavani is expected to miss the game due to suspension. The Uruguayan will begin serving his three games suspension from the FA over breach in football ethics.

Also, Victor Lindelof who missed the dramatic win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, due to his back problem, is expected to still miss the second game in a row.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Scott McTominay and Fred might be back after they were rested in the Wolves game.

He said: “When you leave out Scott and Fred, it’s not easy because they deserve to play every game. But Nemanja and Paul played so well against Everton that I wanted that midfield against Wolves. We’ll be getting injuries and suspensions, that will happen, but our squad is well capable and ready for every game.”

In the defense, he revealed that full back Alex Telles is fit. The Brazilian was replaced at the interval by Luke Shaw after he fell under a rough challenge.

According to Ole: “Alex is fine. That was just a tactical decision we made, a change to the set-up.”

Finally, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have been out through injuries and it doesn't look like the due would be available for Friday's game.
