Nuno Tavares undergoes successful medical at Arsenal ahead of his £8m move from Benfica

Arsenal have already completed their first signing ahead of the 2021-2022 season. Nuno Tavares flew to London to undergo a medical after Arsenal agreed a deal worth £8.6m to sign the defender from Benfica.

Tavares, who established himself as strong attacking left-back, becomes first deal to be completed by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta in this summer window.

Reports by sport expert and journalist, Fabrizio Romano suggested that Arsenal have been in negotiations with Benfica since earlier of last month in order to thrash out a deal for the 21-year-old defender.

He added that the deal has been finalized and the paper work is expected to be completed this weekend.
