Arsenal fans were super excited following their midfielder post on his social media after their friendly game against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Gunners hosted Chelsea in a pre-season friendly at the Emirates stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Blues recorded a 2-1 win after Kai Havertz had given Chelsea the lead in the first half.

Granit Xhaka who was suggested to leave the club this transfer window scored th equaliser with his head few minutes after he came off the bench.

But Arsenal's defensive slip-up hurt them which allowed Tammy Abraham to score the winner.

After the game, Granit took to his social media space to express excitement towards his return to the club after the European Championship.

Taking to his Instagram page (@granitxhaka), he captioned: "It felt really good to be home ❤️🏡#Xhaka #Arsenal #GX34."

Recall that the midfielder guided Switzerland to the quarter-final stage of the European Championship.

He was linked to join Jose Mourinho at Roma, but the deal has reportedly 'hit the rock' because both clubs are unavailable to agree a fee.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are set to offer Granit Xhaka new contract to extend his stay at the club.

Mikel Arteta has also confirmed that Granit Xhaka will remain at the club. While speaking after the defeat to Chelsea, Arteta said:

"Granit is going to stay with us. He's a player that we rate and value so much, he's a key member of our squad. He's trained two days. He wanted to play today and I think it's very clear commitment from his side that he wants to be here."
