Former Chelsea defender has confirmed his exit from his club following the expiration of his contract.

Earlier today, Gray Cahill, 35, took to social media to bid farewell to Crystal Palace after his two years spell at the Selhurst Park outfit has come to an end.
Gary James Cahill is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre back. He is currently a free agent. Recall that Cahill began his career playing for the AFC Dronfield youth system in Derbyshire.

In 2004, he joined Burnley on a season-long loan, and later he signed for hometown club Sheffield United on a three-month loan deal. He joined Bolton Wanderers for £5 million in 2008.

Cahill made 130 league appearances and scored 13 league goals for Bolton which attracted interest of Chelsea for £7 million in 2012. He won the UEFA Champions League trophy, UEFA Europa League, the Premier League, the FA Cup twice and the League Cup with the Blues before he left following his release in 2019,

Taking to his verified Instagram page (@)garyjcahill, he wrote:

"After much thought and deliberation, I can confirm that I have left Crystal Palace FC after an enjoyable two years.
I have really enjoyed my time at the club and I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved at the club, especially the fans and staff who welcomed me into their South London family.
It’s been a privilege to play at Selhurst Park, especially in that first season where I got to experience the atmosphere that the Eagles fans create on a match day. Playing in front of the Holmesdale Road stand is a memory that I will cherish in particular.
I would like to wish the club all the best for the future and wish them every success for the coming season. "

Cahill joined London club Crystal Palace on a free transfer. He left the club after two seasons in 2021.
