Former Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Belgian top flight club Royal Excel Mouscron on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Imperial Soccer Academy in 2015 for a reported fee of £400,000, spent last term with NEC Nijmegen, having previously embarked on a loan stay at FSV Frankfurt in Germany.

He was previously linked with a move to Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard coached by former Nigeria head coach Sunday Oliseh, before he opted for a move to Royal Excel Mouscron, Completesportsnigeria.com gathered.

Awoniyi becomes the ninth Nigerian player who will be featuring in the Belgian Jupiler league this coming season.
