Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino also missed the meeting to discuss the adoption of VAR in the Champions League
OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER, Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola were slammed by Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin for snubbing a VAR seminar set up for Champions League bosses.
The session was staged by Uefa referees chief Roberto Rosetti in Frankfurt on Monday ahead of next week’s adoption of the technology from the last 16 stage.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was a notable absentee of the VAR seminar
But only five managers turned up, including PSG boss Thomas Tuchel.
City sent Brian Kidd while Spurs and United were represented by non-coaching staff, as were Liverpool, although Jurgen Klopp’s side were in action against West Ham that night.
An angry Ceferin said: “This was a meeting for head coaches but only five came.
“Liverpool were playing so they couldn’t come.
Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin was left raging after only five bosses attended the meeting
Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola sent staff members in their place
“Some sent assistant coaches, others sent marketing staff. That was a lack of respect for Roberto Rosetti.
“But I also say the influence of managers is huge.
“And if they complain about referees they should at least come see what the experts say about VAR.
“So no, they have no excuses any more - especially the ones who did not come.”
Manchester United have picked up four more points than any other team in the Premier League since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over
