There are 10 games left in the Premier League this term and Chelsea fans have already been given an insight into next season’s Nike kits. A reliable source has told us that the Chelsea 19-20 third kit will feature a ‘NFL style’ collar, a bit of a contrast compared to other clubs such as Barcelona who will have theirs feature actual collars.
The year’s designs have been well received by the majority of fans, especially the yellow away shirt that has proved to be a big seller across the globe. Having had relatively simple home designs over the past few years, Nike took inspiration from the club’s shirts in the 1980s and 1990s when producing their latest effort as it featured red and white horizontal lines.
Well, it appears that colours the club have used in the past will be returning ahead of the new season. Here’s all the information we know so far about the home, away and third kit designs for 2019/20.
Home kit
Nike are believed to be shaking things up a bit with Barcelona and Inter Milan’s home kits next season, according to reports. However, it doesn’t appear that the same will be happening with Chelsea’s kit.
Footy Headlines claim that the shirt will be predominantly blue with a white swoosh, while it will also feature some white and red trim. There will also be some dark blue on the shirt and this is believed to be a subtle graphic of Stamford Bridge on the front. This was something that was popular in the 1990s and many fans will remember Manchester United’s 1994/96 Umbro home shirt that featured Old Trafford. The new home shirt is due to be revealed in May.
Away kit
Nike have got a tough task trying to produce something better than this season’s yellow away kit. The shirt has proved to be a huge hit amongst fans and it’s clearly the winner out of all three of this season’s designs. Chelsea had a white away kit in their first season with Nike and it appears that they will be back in the same colour next campaign, according to Footy Headlines.
The away shirt will be white with blue and red accents, with white shorts and blue socks completing the kit. The shirt may be very similar to the 2017/18 effort as Nike are believed to be producing a rather simple and classic design.
Third kit
According to Footy Headlines, Chelsea’s third kit will be black and orange next season. The Blues last wore the colours during the 2010/11 season and it looks like they are set to make a return. It is reported that the shirt will be predominantly black with orange logos, while Eden Hazard and Co will also wear orange socks.
The latest third shirt will also have a retro feel to it with Nike reintroducing their classic sportswear logo which came out back in 1985. Featuring on some iconic shirts such as Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain in the mid 90s, Arsenal kits also sported the logo before they reverted to the famous swoosh logo in 1995.
