DAVID DE GEA will not sign a new £350,000-a-week contract unless Manchester United make it into the Champions League next season, according to reports from The Sun.
The 28 years old could leave the club next summer, with the contract he signed in September 2015 due to expire.
His proposed £350,000-a-week would take him closer to the club's highest earner Alexis Sanchez on £505,000-a-week and above Paul Pogba.
Failing to qualify for next season's Champions League could have a huge bearing on whether or not he stays.
It ramps up the pressure on the players and the club to qualify for European football's elite competition.
United are currently fifth and two points behind Arsenal after their first Premier League defeat in three months.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer — who has just signed a permanent three-year deal at United today— is keen to hold on to the former Atletico Madrid star.
