Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes has reportedly pleaded with the Portuguese club to sanction a move for him to join Premier League side Tottenham.
According to The Mirror report, the 24-year-old has been repeatedly linked with Manchester United and other top European clubs, after netting 31 times from his midfield position last season.
The report further suggest Man United and other Premier League suitors are still struggling to meet the £64m price tag placed on the Portugal international
However, Tottenham are believed to have tabled a late offer to land Fernandes, after several attempts to sign Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso failed to see the light of the day.
According to Mail on Sunday, Fernandes held talks with Sporting president Federico Varandas on Friday, August 2, to ask to be allowed a switch to north London, with the believe that Sporting will grant his wishes.
The report also hinted that Tottenham chiefs were in Lisbon last week and reportedly tabled an offer for the playmaker.
However, the bid for the Portuguese star by the North London dwellers fall short of Sporting's evaluation, meaning Fernandes is expected to be on parade against Benfica in Sunday’s Portugal Super Cup showdown.
